ESR 6: Ionic Liquid leaching for reactive metals (Ti, Sc, REEs) recovery
Tell us a little about yourself?
I was born in Rome, Italy in 1987. I studied Chemistry and now I am surrounded by engineers and this is a challenge to see the world from another point of view :), in fact I am a PhD student at the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering (National Technical University of Athens)!
In my life I really love cooking (and, of course, eating! J) and travelling around Europe (to taste every type of food :)). I like to relax by reading books, because when I read stories I live many lives.
How is your PhD going? What is your upcoming research about?
My research focuses on the recovery of Titanium and Rare Earth Elements by Ionic Liquid leaching. I am really fascinated by this research because it is very innovative since they are recovered by hydrometallurgical techniques. At the moment I am doing some preliminary tests to learn more about these compounds and their behaviour within the bauxite residue!
What or who motivates and inspires you? Any thoughts and life musings you’d like to share with us?
“Remember, you are you. You have your own life to live, and if you want to be successful, if you want to be happy, it is you who have to gain it for yourself. Nobody else can do it for you.” Sir Robert Baden Powell (founder of the Scout Movement)
If a chicken had lips, could it whistle?
Of course they could! Why not?
